Racism at its best! Crack cocaine vs. heroin vs. opioids. When there were drugs in the Black community "we were persecuted, we were put in jail, children were put in foster care, and families were ripped apart. It was treated as a criminal justice issue... but now we have an opioids issue that is affecting another demographic" (White people) "and now it is a health issue, says The Honorable Diana Richardson, Kings County, New York, she continues her comments to the New York State Legislators, "now we have to put money diverting people out of prisons into treatment. What’s missing from this package is a restorative justice package.” Heroin is on the rise in the White community and now it's a health issue with legislators rallying to spend federal money. In the the Black community it's frisk, profile, and "lock them up".
